Cleansing and building up a healthy gut and digestive system with anti-inflammatory plant food is so powerful.
I can't stress enough how much it changed my stomach aches, my skin, my sleep, my energy level, and piece of mind being high risk for colon cancer.
Nutrition, for good reason, is still what I call the very foundation of Whole Health.
However, a few years ago, as I struggled to get and keep a pregnancy, when doctors kept telling me nothing was wrong and my blood work all checked out, I couldn't help but wonder:
Can we be eating all of the broccoli in the world and still be out of balance with ourselves and with what surrounds us?
Is there a bigger picture I am missing here?
Albert Einstein says: "Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you can not help but get that reality."
Ok, so if we are nothing but energy, and a baby is nothing but energy- can I manipulate my energy to attract what I truly desire?
Trying to conceive and dealing with the anxiety of losing pregnancy is not for the weak.
A lot of books fell into my lap that year. I turned off all media, went inward, and read a lot.
Dr. Jill Blakeway's Energy Medicine was one of those books (I later would end up doing virtual fertility consultations with her amazing NY based company Yinova).
Dr. Jill's book follows her journey as she explores the healing power of energy medicine. She studies cancer patients healing from acupuncture, and even the hands-on healing of cancer in mice.
There is an energetic field that surrounds us that can’t be seen but can be felt. If you have ever done acupuncture, reiki, or yoga, you know the buzzing happy calm feeling afterwards. You can't explain it, but you feel warm, calm, and aligned. I might even go as far as saying you feel love.
This field surrounds us is invisible, but it is us. And if we are going to exist in energy, we need to tend to our own energy.
We all know those people that walk into the room, and we get a bad feeling. That is their energy, and your intuition reading that energy.
If you need more convincing you can check out Kirlian photography that captures the full energetic field that surrounds every living being.
In Chinese medicine this is called your Qi, and acupuncturists work to bring it back into balance. Reiki masters call this vital energy Ki, and they use their hands to manipulate it. In yoga we call it Prana, and we use breath and movement to bring this vital life force into balance and flow.
In addition to regular acupuncture, I also fell back in love with yoga during this time, mainly because I didn't need an appointment to shift my energy. I just needed a few free minutes and my mat.
And slowly I started to find daily peace and balance, in myself.
In yoga, there is not a single feeling like the warm, loving, buzzing, calm high of being in svasana after breathing and moving.
We have a spiritual connection to something bigger, because as energy ourselves we are something bigger.
Alternative medicines, like shifting our energy, is becoming more popular because it is inexpensive and it heals the body as a whole instead of using a prescription to target a symptom.
It sees the body as one big ball of energy, instead of a thyroid that needs a pill, a migraine that needs a pain medication.
If you want to experience this for yourself you can try even just 5 minutes of my seated yoga here and observe the shift and changes that happen when you link your breath to your movement.
It manipulates your energetic field, your vital life force, and costs you nothing.
Whole health, because we are whole beings, in a whole universe.
